Founded by Edward Alleyn for the education of ‘12 poor scholars’ and granted Letters Patent by James I on 21 June 1619, Dulwich College in South London is celebrating its 400th Anniversary this year. One Night Stand were lucky enough to dress several ladies for the formal Quatercentennial College Ball in May.
Confidence Is Key
Priyanka, on the left, didn’t have fixed ideas of style or colour so we encouraged her to try a range of dresses to discover which ones made her feel good. A full skirt wasn’t really on her radar but this black and gold gown felt right as soon as she put it on and walked to the mirror.
She liked the fact that the gown had sleeves and that the pretty lace bodice showed hints of skin, so she didn’t feel completely covered up either. The fullness of the skirt balanced nicely with her frame.
You need confidence in your outfit to let you really enjoy the event, and this one got a big thumbs-up!
On the right, our vivid green satin ball gown and pink & black strapless ball gown both have deep illusion panels between the breasts. Risqué at first glance, this slashed-to-the-navel look is a clever deceit; the bodices are actually quite modest upon closer examination!
The green gown doesn’t need more than simple earrings, but we love the way the pink strapless gown is accented by the bold necklace. They both had a wonderful Dulwich College ball, couldn’t go more than five minutes without someone saying how wonderful they looked.
We can often adjust or even customise illusion panels to suit your body so that you’re showing the amount that’s appropriate for you. Best of both Worlds, really.
