How To Compete With A Kilt: 1920s Gown

Royal blue, silver & black sequin embroidered evening gown for family party in Scotland

Christine found herself grappling with an unfamiliar challenge for her upcoming family celebration in Scotland – adhering to the black-tie dress code and entering the world of formal dress, a realm far from her comfort zone.

As she ventured deeper into the process, a remarkable change seemed to overtake her. Amid laughter and camaraderie, the joy of experimenting with different gowns lifted her spirits, and soon she was fully immersed in the experience.

Yet, amidst the sea of choices, they couldn’t settle on a favorite, until fate led her to a gown that felt like destiny itself. It was a resplendent homage to the 1920s, exuding an alluring charm that resonated with Christine’s soul. In that very moment, she knew it was the dress of her dreams.

The Dress: Royal Blue 1920s Inspired Evening Gown

The gown embraced her gracefully, its design thoughtfully crafted to combine elegance with ease. The elasticated waist offered a liberating comfort, allowing her to breathe freely and move with unrestrained fluidity. The garment’s sleeves bestowed a touch of modesty, draping her arms with elegance, while its lavish embroidery in royal blue, silver, and black sequins bestowed an air of regal allure.

Notably, the parallel lines of sequins adorning the front and back artfully worked their magic, elongating her figure and bestowing an illusion of height. This particular feature was a delightful boon for Christine, who, like a shooting star, was on the shorter side.

But beyond the gown’s visual splendor, it was the sense of authenticity and self-assurance it evoked that truly captured Christine’s heart. It empowered her to embrace her true essence, as though the dress itself conspired to reflect her inner radiance.

Result: Dream Dress, Scottish Style

She marveled at how she could be at ease in such elegance, for the true test of a dress lies not in its ability to impress others, but in the liberation it brings to the wearer’s spirit. Christine felt like herself, unencumbered by a facade, and it was this sense of comfort that lent her an irresistible allure. She understood then, that no attire could outshine the glow of self-assurance.

With certainty in her heart and stars in her eyes, Christine knew she had found her sartorial soulmate. As she prepared for the celebration, a newfound confidence emanated from her very being, transforming her into the epitome of grace and poise. She had discovered the quintessential truth – a dress should never wear its bearer, but rather, it should harmoniously unite with the wearer’s spirit, igniting an enchanting fusion that captures the essence of beauty. And on that splendid Scottish evening, Christine embodied just that – an enchanting fusion of beauty and authenticity, adorned in the dress of her dreams.

We had an amazing time away and the dress and my husband’s kilt went down a treat. I will definitely come back if I need another outfit. It was a wonderful service.

Royal blue evening gown fit for a Princess

“A big thank you for the blue dress! It went down an absolute treat”

Looking fabulous at the Frozen Ball, hosted by Simon Cowell at the Shakespeare Underglobe for the charity, Together for Short Lives.

Roberta wore a sapphire taffeta square neck gown. This gown oozes style and elegance but has a touch of playfulness about it. You can’t see from this photo but the full skirt is actually a half-over skirt with a tight, thigh slit underskirt. Stunning. This blue evening gown also comes with our favourite accessory (you guessed it); pockets! Paired with a silver diamond necklace with sapphire stone and matching ring, just finished off the look. A very fitting gown for this red carpet event, once Roberta had tried this on she was unable to ‘Let it go!’

This gown also comes in a beautiful olive green, check our gallery to see more.

Royal Blue Evening Gown Has Hidden Secret

Corniela came in to us needing a long gown for her Creating New Beginnings charity event at the Hilton, Kensington. Like most big-busted women she was conscious of having to wear a bra with every outfit and worried about finding a stand-out formal dress that would suit both her and the occasion. We persuaded her try this Royal blue evening gown and she loved it.

Technical Support

This dress has secret cups stitched into the top and also has boning to hold everything place. You don’t need a bra at all, the dress does all the lifting for you. A straight finish across the bust doesn’t show any cleavage; instead you end up with a really flattering neckline with attention going to your neck and shoulders instead. The elbow length sleeves are good for those of us who fret about our upper arms.

Midnight Blue Gown For Russian Ball, London

Blue ball gown worn at Russian Ball, London. Tulle bodice with boat neck and sequins.
Getting ready for the Russian Ball, London, Jess Heydel looking beautiful in a blue floral ball gown.

Jessica wore this beautiful blue floral ball gown to the Russian Ball, London. The gown’s boat-neck sits elegantly on her shoulders giving Jessica a very flattering top-line. Although covered shoulders are de rigueur only for ultra-formal events, like diplomatic banquets, doing so here adds an extra touch of class.

The bodice shows a little skin but is covered up enough so you don’t feel too bare. It’s sprinkled with navy blue sequins which twinkle subtly with every movement.

The tulle skirt falling over a lace fabric gives this dress a vintage feel. Jess took our advice and wore only earrings and simple bracelet; a necklace with this dress would fuss it up too much. Gorgeous dress and it looks beautiful on our girl.
